Kekuja release "Live at Joslines"

Entertaining the San Francisco Bay Area since 1996
	

Newark CA USA (May 17, 2005) - Kekuja, a leading provider of outstanding exciting entertainment, announces the release of their new CD "Live at Joslines".

Kekuja has been spreading happy, healing, danceable vibes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area since 1995. We play African music, Middle Eastern music, and a mixture of the two...with some jazz and showtunes added occasionally for variety. The CD has lots of drumming in both African and Middle Eastern styles, voice, clarinet, bamboo saxophone and varied instrumental accompaniment.

The music we play is comes from many sources and the combination of styles is unique but always danceable. We are respectful to traditional music but are willing to move beyond a strictly traditional reading of the material.

The genres of music on the CD are:

West African 
Obatala, Koreduga, Mai Embo, Soloso/Yemaya, Mandjiane, Che Che

Middle  Eastern 
Katan, Morocco, Blue Jewels

Fusion Music
Nasrin/Caravan - Nasrin Kurdish traditional/Caravan by Duke Ellington
Black Orpheus - Luis Bonfa Brazilian but done as a middle eastern arrangement
Old Castle - a Classical composition by Mossorgsky from 'Pictures at an Exhibition'
